The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

First, I must admit something; I have yet to see either of the two Narnia films that proceed this one. Luckily it seems there’s very little anyone needs to know, as all of the pieces fall into place very quickly.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader finds a bunch of youngsters, though some seem to have moved on given their age, washing up in the fictional realm of Narnia. Pretty soon they find out they have to set out on a quest to get some swords to defeat an evil island. Honestly, it doesn’t feel very smart. I’m sure in book form, with all of the extra evocations that come with that, it works but on the big screen it just feels like a lackluster idea for a plot.

The special effects make up for it, while the dialogue definitely feels period dated. There’s not much else to say, the film is everything you expect and if you’ve seen the previous releases it probably feels right at home. But beyond that there’s nothing really engaging here.

My rating: 6/10
