Linky Dink

It’s 7am on a Saturday morning, so here’s a couple of links I’ve found on the world wide web this week. Expect randomness ahead. I’ll link to tech, stories, videos and whatever the hell else has piled up in my Instapaper feed. If you like it, you could even grab the RSS feed. RSS, remember that?

Transformy
This is pretty freaking cool. Paste in some sample data like a CSV file. Then write out how you want the first row to look on the right. Bam! Transformy formats the rest for you automatically. It’s got a few rough edges, date handling and extra formatting options would be nice. But for quickly turning a CSV into JSON doc with concatenation etc in between it’s amazing. A CLI version would be the bomb.

FPGA HDMA Ambient Lighting1
I’m not going to pretend to understand how differential signalling and pixel clocks work, but this is pretty darn cool. Maybe I could get an FPGA board and put it with the Arduino I never use.

Halo: Website Evolved
This is like two of my worlds colliding. Microsoft rewrote the Halo site after Bungie left to do other things, and while they’ve lost a lot of the stuff that made it cool (heatmaps and post-game carnage reports) it’s always interesting to see how big companies build their sites.

Make your own bluetooth speaker
$15 for a bluetooth speaker isn’t bad. I wonder if you could ramp up the wattage. It’s always good to see what’s doable nowadays with a combination of online guides and hobby hardware. I could imagine tying this into part of a larger installation.

PrototypeRaptor vs Enya
Hey, it’s been an odd week. So here’s a song from a video about a guy catching a drone. It’s Enya with a beat, so there’s almost a 110% chance you’re not going to like it.
